Taylor Swift may be the reigning queen of the breakup song when things go wrong, but she’s not the only one writing a song about a nasty breakup. Celebrities have been broadcasting their dirty laundry so that everyone can hear it through their music for a long time! Sometimes it even ends in a war, just ask Eminem and Mariah …

Here are some of the best revenge songs for all of you.

Justin Timberlake – ‘Cry Me A River’ (2002, reportedly about Judge Princess of Pop & X Factor, Britney Spears)

The story: This perfect couple with their impeccable image dates from 1999 to 2002. Having met at the ‘Mickey Mouse Club’ 11 years earlier, these two seemed like a perfect match! (let’s be honest, we all live in the hope that one day they will get back together, sorry Jessica & Jason ..) Then one day out of the blue it was all over. Justin found a hair clipper and Britters found, uh … another man? JT is affected cry Me A River , supposedly about Spears’ cheating, was released in 2002 shortly after the shock broke and features a Britney lookalike in the video.
Words: “You don’t have to say what you did / I already know, I learned it from him / Now there is no chance for you and I, they never will / And it does don’t you make you sad about it? “

Britney Spears – ‘Everytime’ (2004, apparently about Justin Timberlake)

The story: See above, is this Britney’s response to Cry Me A River? Much like JT’s video, fans speculated that Stephen Dorff, who plays Britney’s boyfriend in the video, was meant to portray Justin, assuming the fame made their relationship claustrophobic among a million other renditions. (we just want to know what happened!) One thing we can be sure of is that the lyrics were about her ruining a past relationship. * cough Justin cough *

Words: “I might have made it rain / Please forgive me / My weakness made you sad / And this song is my sorry / At night I pray / That your face will disappear soon… I see your face / You haunt me / I guess I need you baby “

Rose – ‘So What’ (2008, about Carey Hart)

The story: When the most spirited girl in pop parted ways with her motocross heart, Carey Hart, it was possibly the friendliest parting in celebrity history, in all of history for that matter. He even appeared in the video, as himself. Everything is fine now, they got together and had baby Willow, awk! It is not all gloomy.

Words: “And guess what? / I’m having more fun / And now that we’re done / I’m going to show you tonight / I’m fine, I’m fine / And you’re a tool.”

Katy Perry – ‘Circle The Drain’ (2010, apparently about Travie McCoy)

The story: This cute couple dated for several years but broke up shortly after the Gym Class Heroes frontman promised to put a ring on Katy’s finger in 2009. Katy described the angry track as “kinda like my You have to know‘moment and takes a hit at Travie’s drug addiction. The 6’4 singer said he had never heard the track before but was “just thrilled that she finally has a song with some substance on her record.” Good work’ Ouch!

Words: “I thought I was the exception / I could turn your addiction away / You could have been the biggest / But you’d rather get lost / You fall asleep during foreplay / ‘Because the pills you take / Are more your strong / I ‘I don’t stay to watch you go down / I want to be your lover / Not your [bleepin’] mother.”

Taylor Swift – ‘Forever & Always’ (2008, apparently about Joe Jonas)

The story: Taylor has a weakness for writing about her exes and she doesn’t hide it either, saying, “If you’re horrible to me, I’m going to write a song about you, and you’re not going to like it.” This is how I operate. If guys don’t want me to write songs about them, they shouldn’t be doing bad things! ..well it is said to them! “Forever & Always” is just the first of what would be one of his many breakup songs. That was around this time, my boy Joe Jonas she was dating in the summer of 2008, that was until he dumped her on a 27 second phone call – La revenge is sweet. Joe responded with Much better an obvious blow to the beauty of the country, even referencing her song Tears on my guitar.

Words: “Was I out of place? / Did I say something too honest? / Made you run and hide like a scared little boy / I looked you in the eye / I thought you know for a minute / Now I’m not so sure. “

Eminem – “Bagpipes of Baghdad” (2009, there is no doubt it is about Mariah Carey)

The Story: Em claims he and Mariah had an affair in 2001, which she has repeatedly denied, much to her chagrin. In 2005, he even played alleged voice messages from Mimi before playing her song. Puke live. He also mentioned it in Superman and When the music stops disabled The Eminem show LP before you take another hit in that soundtrack Relapse album, pretty funny if you ask me!

Words: “Mariah, what happened to us? / Why did we have to break up? … / Nick Cannon better [bleep] up / I’m not playing / I want her to come back, you punk.

Mariah Carey – ‘Obsessed’ (2009, 100% on Eminem)

The story: see above, that was Mariah’s response to Slim Shady Bagpipes from Baghdad and all the other digging / derision that came before it. Although she denied that the song was an outrage to the rapper, she disguised herself as a bearded version in the video. Eminem didn’t take the search lightly and hit back with Warning in which he has some very chosen words for the singer, Eminem 1, Mariah 0.

So there you have it, nothing makes the creative juices flow like a broken heart! Matters of the heart are always an interesting topic, but when there are two celebrities involved, that’s when it all gets a little more captivating and whether you want to admit it or not we all like a little bit of celebrities!
