For more on Radiant Orchid color and how to match the color to your skin tone, check out some of Lauren’s beauty tips below!
Radiant Orchid is suitable for all skin types
This color is bold and bright, and for some people, using a shade like Radiant Orchid can be intimidating. But fear not, because this color is suitable for all skin tones. According to Lauren, the key to Radiant Orchid’s success is the intensity of the application and the focus on one area of the face. She also suggests: “Neutralize dark circles under the eyes so they look awake and fresh (no bruises). “
Radiant orchid for fair skin
Those of you with fair skin, don’t fear this year’s color. Radiant Orchid can showcase some of your best attributes if applied correctly. For fair skin tones, Lauren suggests using color to focus on one facial feature.
On the eyes, for example, use the color as a light sweep across the entire eyelid, blending upward into the brow bone where it should fade into the brow bone. Use a dark or black eggplant color to draw the eyes close to the lash line to add definition. Keep everything else on the face in neutral / nude tones.
For paler skin tones, if you’re looking for products with a shade similar to Radiant Orchid, Lauren suggests an Arbonne eye shadow called Lilac.
Lilac is very pigmented but remains tonically light to sweep the eyes. Benefit’s new Lollitint is an excellent tint for cheeks and lips.
Radiant orchid for medium skin
If you have a medium skin tone, Lauren explains that Radiant Orchid will add a pop of color to your typical makeup routine.
You can use Radiant Orchid with more intensely complementary tones to an element of pop. Play around with the color on the inner corner of your eyes to add some drama and interest, and top it with a little shimmer powder (silvery or cooler tones work best) on top to brighten up tears. .
Lauren also suggests not blushing with this look and keeping the lips shiny and not shiny. For medium skin tones, Lauren says products like Nars Duo Eyeshadow and Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Pencil are a great choice.
The Nars eyeshadow duo in Jolie Poupee has two stunning tones in two different finishes that make makeup easier both day and night. The Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil in Asphyxia is a fun liner to do a cat’s eye with (but keep the rest of the eyelid neutral).
Radiant orchid for darker skin tones
According to Lauren, depending on your daring, those of you with darker skin can have a lot of fun with this new color.
The color is more beautiful in its most intense application on this complexion. Light pastels can give the skin a chalky appearance. Use it all over the eyelid, blended into the browbone, if you’re feeling brave, or apply a shade of lilac lipstick to match. Radiant Orchid represents joy and love, so feel free to express it!
Lauren has you covered, of course, and has suggested a few products to look out for if you have darker skin tone.
I love Tarte’s cheek stain in Flush because the gel stain makes the color look like it shines from within. Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer in 118 Yes! is a great way to add some color to an outfit.
Lauren’s tip for experimenting with color
For all skin tones, experimenting with a new color is a bit like stepping out of a comfort zone. Lauren gives some tips for trying new colors for the first time.
Less is more! Subtle highlights in the center of an eyelid, a thinly lined lower lash, or a swipe of lip gloss are great ways to learn a beauty threshold without feeling silly.
It’s always refreshing to try something new! With Radiant Orchid as this year’s new color, why not use some of Lauren’s tips to create a bold and fun look that is starting to turn heads?
